MeshCentral - IP-KVM Raritan KX III support

Image
This week, a framework was added in MeshCentral to support for IP-KVM switches. For now, the only supported model is the Raritan Dominion KX III switch . This allows for a new form of out-of-band management of computers. MeshCentral can manage remote devices using the agent, agent-less on the local network (SSH/RDP), agent-less using Intel® AMT and now, using IP-KVM devices. In detail: IP-KVM devices . Many vendors offer IP-KVM devices that connect to a computer’s display output and have connectors for USB to emulate a mouse, keyboard and sometimes storage devices. This allows administrators to remotely control computers even without a operating system agent installed. It’s done by emulating local user input over the network. It’s much like what is available with Intel® AMT, but as a completely different devices connected to the PC you want to remote. MeshCentral now has a framework for supporting IP-KVM devices. When support is enabled, it’s offered as a new device group type. IP-KVM ...

This week the big news is the addition of PostgreSQL database support to MeshCentral, making MeshCentral more flexible than ever. More features were added at the request of the community, notably adding streaming support to the recorded session player and pre-defined strings in remote desktop. In detail: PostgreSQL Database Support . MeshCentral already supported four different back-end databases (MongoDB, MySQL, MariaDB, NeDB) and last week we added another one with the addition of PostgreSQL, a widely used, high-performance, open-source database. MeshCentral supports this new database natively, no adaptation layers needed. More back-end database support means that more administrators will be able to deploy MeshCentral on their existing infrastructure. Stream Session Recordings . Requested by the open-source community, recorded sessions can now be replayed directly from the server using the new streaming player. The new player will connect back to the server using web sockets and stre...

We are having a great week with a lot of community participation, many bug fixes, and lots of new features. This week, the user interface has gotten better for both the desktop and mobile web sites. The most fun new demonstration you can now perform is having a friend remote to a computer and as administrator, cutting them off in real time. Very cool, but I am sure this power can be quite annoying if abused. On the social media front, the MeshCentral YouTube channel is doing great. In detail: YouTube Channel . By chance I happen to see the view counter on the MeshCentral YouTube channel just cross the 22k mark. Thank you to everyone who is interested in MeshCentral and the amazing community around it. New videos continue to premiere every Wednesday with plenty more topics to cover. Next week’s video will be on setting up a SMTP email server with MeshCentral and all the new features enabled when doing this. Session Control . When remote desktop, terminal or file session are active on ...
