MeshCentral - New Year, New MeshCentral.com Frontpage

On this last day of 2020, we look forward with a taste of what is to come for the next year. MeshCentral now has a new front page on MeshCentral.com, making the freely available, use at your own risk, community management server also the MeshCentral promotional page. For the last few years, meshcental.com was the community management site and people who wanted to setup their own server had to go on the MeshCommander.com site to get documentation and tutorial videos. This never made sense and today, this is finally rectified with a nice looking new MeshCentral front page on MeshCentral.com. In details:

  • Improved MeshCentral site hosting. MeshCentral has been improved so it’s both a management web site and a generic web server at the same time. This is practical if you want to run a single software, but also serve some static content like a new front page. In addition, you can now redirect the root URL to a different site allowing users to see a different landing page on your MeshCentral server. This feature of course is now being used on MeshCentral.com as it’s hosting the new proportional site along with the community management portal.
  • New MeshCentral.com front page. The new page allows visitors to learn about MeshCentral, it’s capabilities and security features, view screens and tutorial videos and finally to install MeshCentral for themselves. All the documentation, tool downloads and more are now in a single logical place. The site is optimized for mobile devices and features high definition graphics for high-dpi and Retina displays.
  • MeshCentral community management server. MeshCentral is also a free remote device management server for people that want to try it out without having to install their own server. The site continues to work as before but users now must click the login button on the upper right. Accounts work just like before. MeshCentral.com was updated to the latest software and so, users can start using all the latest features including the new mobile remote desktop viewer and more.
  • Benefits of running your own server. The public management portal is a use-as-your-own-risk server. To get the full benefits of MeshCentral including all the administrator rights, full control over user consent policies and more, you should setup your own server. This is especially important if you are using it for commercial or production usages. Settings up your own server is not expensive, MeshCentral will run on a 5$/month EC2 t3.nano instance or EC2 free tier running Linux since the software is extremely resource efficient.

If you have not done so already, visit the new portal at https://meshcentral.com. In addition to this, MeshCentral has many more bug fixes and improvements. As usual, feedback is appreciated. If you see any problems and need support on something, please create a new issue on GitHub or help other users.

Thank you everyone and happy new year!
