Notes, Account Management & Locking

This week is the last feature release for a little while because of traveling and vacations coming up and a bit more focus on bug fixes. This said, we have a bunch of really good features released this week that improve MeshCentral2. The focus was on making administration of a MeshCentral2 server and users a lot better. New this week:

  • Improved user management. For server administrators, the “My Users” tab is much better. Administrators will immediately see the difference. Users are now listed with online users on the top, improved indications of validated emails and for each user, there is now a full sub-section with user information and configuration and events for each user. You can how edit the email address, validation status, server rights and update the password in a single screen. The user management look and feel as also been improved. The user login timeline is not yet implemented, a placeholder is currently displayed.
  • Account locking. Administrators can now lock out users. In the server permissions dialog for each user, you now find a new “Lock Account” option. When set, active sessions from the user are dropped in real time and the user is locked out immediately.
  • Notes. We now added server notes for devices, meshes and users. This allows administrators of these various entities to write down details about these objects in the web site. The notes are global for each object, so other administrators will see the same notes for a given user, device or mesh. This feature has been requested as a way to help with device and user support.

The latest release is MeshCentral2 v0.1.6-r, and is available now for update. Lots more bug fixing has occurred in addition to more ground work for new features coming out in the coming months.

As many of you know already from a discussion on GitHub , Bryan and I have been laid-off from Intel in early November 2022. MeshCentral - Windows ARM64, NodeJS v11, NPM Packages

Hi all. It's been a while since I last posted and now that I am settling a bit more in my work at Microsoft, I have a bit of time to occasionally look after MeshCentral again. It's about time, there where a bunch of things that needed to get fixed. Before that, I want to say that I am doing great. I am working on Microsoft Forms which is one of the offerings of Microsoft 365. For kicks, I started a YouTube channel on Microsoft Forms here during a Microsoft hacking week. I tried to up my game since the videos I last published for MeshCentral. Also, I wanted to share pictures below. I was at a Tesla Supercharger last weekend and, by luck, got to see a Tesla Cybertruck in person. It's very big. Obviously, this is a release candidate driven by a Tesla employee. MeshCentral - New Windows Agents - Installation Dialog, Customization and Server Lock

Lots is going on with MeshCentral, just yesterday Bryan Roe released a new MeshAgent for Windows with many improvements. An improved installation dialog box, logo customization and, to continue MeshCentral’s leadership in security, a new agent code signing locking feature that will surely be used by many to improve trust and security of their MeshCentral installation.
